MST is partnering with altcom Limited to characterise background seismicity in Cornwall, UK. The monitoring network includes Raspberry Shake sensors as well as more conventional seismometers and strong-motion devices. As part of the project, Altcom has recently installed a Shake 4D with outdoor IP67 rated case within the MST offices. The Shake 4D includes a 3-component accelerometer that provides valuable high-frequency data as well as a 4.5 Hz vertical component geophone suitable for characterizing low-frequency strong-motion signals. This together with the rapid installation makes the Raspberry Shake well suited to the eary-stage characterisation of background noise levels. We’ll keep you updated as the project progresses….
